Party in a rather nice house

This Saturday, I DJ'd at a rather nice house in Cobham. Swimming pool, tennis courts, paddock etc. I was in three turreted tents adjoining the side of the property and given a free hand on the lighting, just told they wanted an Ibizan club. So I put up a couple of Mirror balls and aimed mauve and green lasers at them. Then placed four scanners, a couple of spots and a strobe aound the room and DMX'd them up to

Wedding in Laleham Park

This weekend, I DJ'd at a lovely wedding in Laleham Park, Surrey. 200 people, lovely weather and an unusual setting, made for a great time. The location was right in the middle of the Park football pitch with the chairs outside and me playing motown love songs as the guests arrived. When the Bride walked down the aisle her sister sang a Sade number to her and I played Signed Sealed Delivered. I also took photos of the blessing and

60’s Wedding

I DJ'd at two weddings over the Bank Holiday and have another two this weekend. Last Saturday, I played the music at 60's soul / Northern Soul themed wedding. The bride and groom turned up in an old Jag she looked like twiggy in a short white mini skirt and he was very mod looking. Musically it made a change for me and was really enjoyable although some guests in the evening appeared to be a little bit musically illiterate

Test Mix

Spectrum test mix Silent Snow Parov Stelar Reelin' - Original Mix Supernova (Italy) Musical Freedom [The Shapeshifters 'Big Fish Little Fish' Remix] Candi Staton When Doves Cry - Yass Main Mix Yass Steve_AngelloPLAY_Walking_On_Tivoli__Steve_Amgello_Bootleg Not Going Home (Eric Prydz Remix) Faithless This is the first mix I have ever posted. It was a lot harder than I expected, mainly because I did not have a crowd to feedback from.

Great Wedding Disco

DJ'd at a great wedding at the weekend. The location was a converted old barn deep in the Royal Berkshire countryside, there was about 150 guests, which really helps make the wedding go with swing (why do more couples not invite more guests to the evening reception?) I had been told to read the crowd and keep them dancing a lovely free brief in this age of lengthy song lists. This is what I played. 1 Dream A Little Dream

30th Birthday Party

Saturday night involved a Family 30th Birthday Party in a lovely 4 star hotel in leafy surrey. A lot of Soul and Motown was requested early on, which made a pleasant change. It was then fairly middle of the road after that. Although it was a small gathering, (about 70 or so) I had them all up and dancing. Still Water (Love) Four Tops You Can't Hurry Love Diana Ross Am I The Same Girl Dusty Springfield Sweet talking guy

50th Birthday Disco

Hi, Saturday night involved me DJing at a 50th Birthday Party. The location was a disused restaurant with mainly glass walls and very modern. There were over 120 people average age would be about 45. I played background music at very low volume during the meal and showed pictures on a screen I had erected of the birthday girl growing up and with her friends and family. At pre-drinks, I had taken photos of the guests which I then added

Polo Gold Cup

On Sunday night, I was the DJ at the Polo Gold Cup after party. 200 for dinner plus another 100 more in the evening, so plenty of people to entertain. This is a very mixed crowd and and this is reflected in the playlist. (below) I tried to get Ableton synced with Traktor, but was not happy with the result. Looks like for now it will be Traktor for DJing and Traktor for playing live. Still trying to get my

21st Birthday Party

Here is my playlist for when I was the DJ for a 21st party. There were nearly 250 people there so it was a great atmosphere. I was using about 6000 watts from 3 crown amps into 5 JBL MRX speakers so plenty of clear and pumping bass. Also had entertainingly saw some other pumping going on at the end of the day when one of the guests had bent his lady over a fence. Made loading the van up more
