90’s Music

90’s music – The 90’s started where the 80’s finished off musically but then we saw Electronic music, which had increased in popularity in the 1980s, grew highly very in the 1990s; house and techno from the 1980s rose to international success in this decade, as well as new electronic dance music genres such as Techno and Trance. Not being left behind in the 90s either was Hip-hop which had done well in the eighties also.

Rock and Pop continued to do well with artists such as Guns n Roses, Bryan Adams and Britney Spears. We also saw the emergence of girl bands such as the Spice girls and All Saints.

Britpop bands such as Blur, Suede, Pulp, Manic Street Preachers, Supergrass, The Verve and Oasis who regularly topped the singles and album charts throughout the decade and 90’s music also through up boy bands as well.

With the exponential growth of computers, music technology and resulting lowering in the cost of production equipment in the early 1990s, it became possible for a wider number of musicians to create electronic music. Even though initially most of the electronic music was dance music, the genre developed in the 1990s as musicians started producing music which was not necessarily designed for the dance-floor but rather for home listening. People like Moby with “Play” in 1999.

The variety makes 90’s music a great choice for a party and nowadays nineties can be heard at a lot of weddings as that is the time the bride and groom would have been growing up in.
